What Can I Say?

We may be late, but it was all well worth the wait!
By J.R. Janicek, Editor of Elite Streets Magazine

First things first, I want to apologize for the late release of this issue. It is unfortunate that in this thing that we do that Elite Streets Magazine relies heavily upon the cooperation of other people. When those people do their part, things work like clock work, when they don't do their part, things get knocked out of sync. Usually we have "Plan B" in place in case of such unforeseen circumstances, but this time we were positive that things would be good-to-go near the release of this issue. As luck would have it, better yet bad luck, we were left holding a bag of nothing, so "Plan B" simply consisted of delaying this issue's release in order to get things back in sync. It is an awfully long story to go into, so I will refrain from telling you the very awkward details and just say that I am sorry about the delay. ESM has learned a lesson and next time we will be better prepared for such incidents. Enough said about that!

Usually, I speak my mind about something that I observed or believe should happen in the custom automotive scene. Well, I have seen a lot this past year in particular and though I have quiet a bit I could comment on I will refrain from doing so in this issue. Why you ask? Well, I ran across a guy named Jance Burch who happens to be the inventor of the tailgate tonneau topper properly dubbed (no pun intended) "Tonneau Gate". It just so happens Jance likes to speak his mind, on a number of things, and we found an interesting article that he had written where he comments on who really deserves to win at a car show. I could not have said it any better, so I am handing the soap box over to Jance for this issue.

Also in this issue, we have five features to speak of. You will notice that the feature named "O-Yella" is the finished street rod build up project which was detailed in the last issue of ESM (April-June 2004). We also have three models that we interviewed: Zenaida Flava, Ericka Hoffman, and Jennifer Scott, all of which will get your motor running!

We have show coverage from four auto shows: Hot Summer Nights, Southeast Mini-Truckin' Nationals, Texas Heat Wave, and Southern Showdown V. There are over 1,000 photos, in just the show coverage portion alone, in this issue... so, enjoy!

Since the next issue will be out after the fact, I want to wish everyone Happy Halloween, Happy Thanksgiving, and a very Merry Christmas. Keep our troops, as well as their families, in your thoughts over the holidays because if it wasn't for them, you wouldn't be able to enjoy all of these cool custom autos!

Until next time... keep it legal and keep it safe.
