My Next Custom Ride, By Kevin Hertzog

Enthusiasts, vendors, and builders have one major thought on their minds when it comes to custom rides, "what's gonna be my next custom ride?" From your average truck magazine to the dirt paths at your local truck/car show it's very clear there are a lot of sick and wicked rides! But what you don't know about those vehicles is how they started out. Was it wrecked? Was it new? A lot of enthusiasts I've seen take their everyday daily driven trucks, vans, or cars and add little by little custom touches, such as: intakes, new rim and tire packages, custom paint jobs, chrome accents, suspension mods, interior mods, and my personal favorite body mods! Most custom rides started out as just ordinary standard vehicles and a lot of them were used. For those that have a little more of the green stuff, their custom rides might be new when they decide to strip it apart and rebuild it to make it even better or maybe they will pay someone to take care of it for them. So what will be your next custom ride?

Even the average kid dreams of owning or building a custom ride. Most of the kids I've seen only want that ride to show off. This group is totally satisfied with even a factory custom (Chevy SS series rides, Ford SVT rides, etc.). This will not fly for experienced builders though. Experienced builders are the ones you have to tip your hats to. Those are the real builders who do more then just buy new rides to rebuild and modify, those are the builders who, would purchase a car or truck from the local salvage yard and restore and modify it from the ground up. A total build! This is usually the case for street rods, classic cars, and muscle cars. With tons of money poured into such rides, now wonder such cars are selling well into the six digit range!

So, ask yourself what kind of ride will be my next custom ride? Will I build it or will I buy it already built?

Until next time... keep on Kruisin'!
