This was the first year ESM had the opportunity to attend Slamboree. Pleasures Trucks and Compacts, a custom auto club based in Oklahoma City, has been putting on Slamboree for fourteen years and what makes it successful are many things, but the most paramount reason is that all funds raised are donated to the American Diabetes Association. This ball got rolling when one of the original founders of what was then Mini Pleasures was diagnosed with diabetes. Since that time, over $40,000 has been donated to the cause.

This year's Slamboree had a change in venue from the hot asphalt of Oklahoma's Lloyd Nobel Center to the much cooler grass of the Cleveland County Fairgrounds. Slamboree 2007 was an event that was planned to have a little of something for everyone, which featured anything from classic cars to body dropped mini-trucks.

As ESM walked the show grounds, we saw much of the nation's finest lined up for judging. Many of those who judge the event aren't only proud members of Pleasures, but are actively involved with the area of interest they're judging. Body and paint guys judge paint categories; performance shop owners look over the racy compacts... so on and so forth.

When the awards ceremony began on Sunday, those first-timers at Slamboree saw one of the truly great things about the show -- Pleasures' killer trophies. If you were lucky enough to win the Best Truck or Car award, then you were in for a treat. The Best of Truck and Car awards were made from billet aluminum and an airbag!
