NOPI Nationals 2007 By J.R. Janicek

The 2007 NOPI Nationals Motorsports Supershow, now in its 20th year, is one of the top automotive shows in the country. It doesn't matter whether you drive a truck, donk, import car, hopper, drifter, or motorcycle... all are welcome at the NOPI Nationals! This year's venue was held at the Atlanta Motor Speedway and once again confirmed its title as a "motorsports supershow."

As part of the weekend-long show, crowds were treated to a large assortment of entertainment including a performance by hip-hop recording artist Kudzu. NOPI fans also took a trip back in time with a stellar performance by the famed rock band Skid Row who delivered some of their rock classics.

Since its inception in 1988 with 56 show cars and no sponsors, the NOPI Nationals has continued to have significant growth. 2007 was no different, for more than 6,000+ participants and 96,000+ spectators took over the in-field of the Atlanta Motor Speedway.

The NOPI Nationals included non-stop action over the weekend. Spectators were treated to an earth scorching burn-out competition, unbelievable hydraulic hop-off competitions, and the beautiful women of NOPI swimsuit competition. The 2007 swimsuit competition featured over 30 of the most beautiful women competing for a share of the $10,000 in prize money.

In addition to the vehicle competition that included 350 classes in six divisions, the IASCA/USACi/dB Drag 3X Audio Competition took place at the NOPI Nationals, too. Of course, a NOPI show wouldn't be complete without a drift exhibition which drew thousands of spectators each time!
