Twisted Circus By J.R. Janicek

When Brian Rogge of Ooltewah, Tennessee, was searching for the ultimate turnkey custom mini-truck he must have been in the right place at the right time because Doug Mcawley of Woodbridge, Virginia just happened to have his wild mini, Twisted Circus, up for sale. Brian flashed some c-notes and that immediately motivated Doug to give Brian a firm handshake and toss him the keys to his new fully custom mini-truck.

The first thing most people notice about Brian's rig is... you guessed it, the paint. The paint on Brian's truck can capture your attention for a long while indeed! From a distance, you might just think this is a simply twisted lime green and brown paintjob, but as you close in on this low stanced mini, you will notice the twists and turns contain various details from a circus scene--- hencethe name "Twsited Circus." There is everything from acrobats performing various amazing feats to chuckling clowns and even the infamous bearded lady makes her apperance in the paint!

The details in the truck also go beyond the paint job. In order to not disturb the paint scheme, a bare canvass was needed, so the door handles, antenna, hood squirters, and tailgate handle, were all shaved. The stock bumper was also ditched and a roll pan fills in the void. The stock taillights were also shaved and a set of Cadillac taillights were grafted into place. The front bumper and grille were swapped out for a chrome bumper and custom grille. The stock headlights and side markers were swapped for a set of crystal clear lenses. Once all of the bodywork was completed, the truck was sent to Kenny Dean at Razor Graphics in Fredericksburg, Virginia, to handle all of the paintwork, using House of Kolor Valspar Lime Green base with Butter Sweet Pearl, and Rootbeer Candy for all the circus graphics. Kenny also pinstriped the truck in House of Kolor Pink.

With an exterior this wild, a stock interior was a major no go. Some of the detailed airbrushing crawls its way into the interior, including the door panels, dash panels, and the custom diamond plate subwoofer enclosure, which houses three 12-inch Planet Audio subs in the extended cab area. The rest of the interior received various billet components along with black tweed and green leather to blend the interior with the exterior. A Sony Xplod CD headunit controls all the audio, while a 7-inch LCD and a DVD player handles all the video. The HVAC controls were relocated to the glovebox to freeup some room in the center of the dash.

Under the hood, the stock V-6 received a throttle body spacer and cold air intake. A Flowmaster custom exhaust was hung under the bed to help the engine breathe easier. The battery was relocated to the bed and painted-to-match trailer fenders were reworked and installed to protect the engine compartment from road debris.

No mini-truck is ever complete without the proper altitude adjustment which is usually the opposite of up! A custom rear frame was fabbed out of 2x4 box tubing by Kevin Pettit and a 2-link was added. A custom true cantilever setup was fabbed for the rear to give additional lift when the air bags are full. A set of trailer fenders were also installed to provide a cleaner look, but more importantly serve as protection from road debris. Slam Specialties airbags were mounted at all four corners which are filled with the aid of two chrome 480 Viair compressors attached to a 7-gallon chrome airtank.

A set of 20-inch Ion wheels, wrapped in 245/35/20 rubber up front and 245/40/20 rubber in the rear, keep the fender wells nice and full when this mini is laid out. Trailer fenders were modifeid and fitted inside the engine compartment and bed to help keep road debris to a minimum.

Brian boasts this wild mini is driven and dragged daily which adds to the idea behind the paint scheme in the first place. Mini-truckin' is a circus with its own form of entertaining off-the-wall spectacles. Brian's "Twisted Circus" continues that tradition.

Shout Out: "Special thanks to my wife, Doug Mcawley, Kevin Pettit, Josh Carerra, Tim Frank, Tommy Kimsey, Craftsman Upholstery, and Kenny Dean at Razor Graphics." -Brian Rogge
