Texas Heat Wave 2008

Texas Heat Wave can almost always be summarized in two words: big and hot. Big would actually be an understatement because this legendary show has always had the reputation of being one of the largest in the lower 48 and it lived up to it... again. With 40,000 spectators and 1,800 registered vehicles, Texas Heatwave truly is a Texas-sized show! Even with the recent high gas prices, the show has continued to grow in size and popularity. This year, soothsayers claimed attendance would drop, but the event ended up being one of the biggest ever!

The show was held at the Travis County Expo Center, a rather large facility, which barely accommodates this XXXL truck show which featured everything you can think of, including: a motorcycle stunt show by Team Stunters, a BMX exhibition, a burnout contest, a truck-o-war competition, a hydraulic dance competition, a monster truck car crush, and a wheelie show from the Texas Bandit. On Saturday night a concert including performances from Lil Boosie, Soulja Boy, Lil Will, and Paul Wall was held. Then there was an official after-party with a wet T-shirt contest. Sunday closed out the show with a bikini contest followed by the awards ceremony.

ESM labels this a near bullet proof show because neither extreme weather nor a weakening economy can stop Texas Heat Wave from getting bigger and better! Until next year...
